Howdy, Orc Friends!
So, according to my Mario Bros calendar, its 2021. Yep, we made it, guys! I won't bog you down with a recount of all the drama and problems that occurred in 2020, we were all in the same boat and, if you're anything like me, you've had your fair share of seeing all the negativity online. Social media has been a perpetual arena of fighting, bickering, name calling, racism, political arguments, you name it, so let's change gears together.
Change is something we each have the power to do. Change starts with you and I. Change starts this very moment when you say to yourself, hey, The Orc Man is right, I can change the world around me.
Now, I'm not saying you need the change the way voting works, or how the police, government, schools, public parks, whatever, does things. I'm saying that you can do the smallest, littlest thing and make a choice to make the local world around you a little better.
Will you do it with me? Will you help make the world we live in just a little better?
We will be setting up a drop-off box for any donations anyone would like to make for those less fortunate at The Orc's Lair. If you'd like to help, you're welcome to it! There's no pressure though, but you're welcome to if you like to help.
There are people, just like you and me, who are going hungry, are cold, and just need help. I know not every story is glamorous on how someone may have gotten to that point. Sometimes, sure, its things like drinking or drugs, but sometimes its something like bankruptcy, an accident, losing hope due to the loss of a loved one, mental health issues, PTSD from serving in the military. There's a million reasons why someone may be homeless or less fortunate. Wether or not it's someone's "fault" they got there, we still want to help.
Some things that would be great would be socks, sweaters, sweatshirts, underwear, bottles of water, or knock-off Gatorade. Food that keeps well like nuts, energy bars, jerky, etc are also great.
Drop-offs can be made to us where Melissa and I will be hand-delivering them directly to the homeless as we see them. We usually donate our unused snacks and drinks on our way home and a lot of people have been very appreciative.
If donating isn't your thing, hey, no problem at all. But if we can ask, think about what you can do to make the world around you a little better and do it. Be proud of yourself and be good to your fellow people.
Let's be the change you want to see in the world. It starts with us and it starts as early as now.
If you need help, please let us know. Melissa and I have experience, training, and education with mental health, first aid, special needs, autism, social anxiety, and so on. If you're hungry or need any help, ask. We are always happy to listen and we will do what we can.
Thank you and have a fantastic 2021! Keep your chin up, everyone!
